ALERT! Facebook will now block ads that spread fake news


Yes, the title says that Facebook is now going to block ads that have the tendency to spread fake news. In a recorded statement in this article states the pages on Facebook obtains reports of false stories frequently the advertiser will no longer be able to post ads. Earlier in this year of 2017 Facebook has been trying to dwindle on fake news. Facebook has also been trying to advocate about sketchy articles that you will sometimes see on a newsfeed. They have also been trying to prioritize content that is written at least 50 times a day from an individual on Facebook. As anyone can probably figure out that it'll more than likely be misled information aka fake news. The social media site has established a "fact checker" that labels if an ad or post is fake and will lead to you the correct information related. Recently, Facebook is already taking action on banning fake news websites to generate any type of revenue from the false post. The latest update according to the article is that it's still continuing its fight to battle fake news. The company stated, "Today's update helps to disrupt the economic incentives and curb the spread of false news, which is another step towards building a more informed community on Facebook."   1. That's really great news! I hope they continue to improve their technology to block these sites that spread misinformation. I think it will be interesting exactly what they mean by "false stories." Are they talking about just completely outlandish news articles like "John Kerry is now a republican and running for Georgia Governor", or being able to fact check news articles that completely twist sound bites or quotes and create false narratives. Facebook is such a large source of news for many people our age and being able to rely more on these articles seen on this website would be a delight to see and better inform young people of the real news.
