Aren’t you going to miss my blogging about my fake news............. The liberal famous CNN made a column asking to abolish the term of what we call “fake news"

The writers of the names Hossein Derakhshan and Claire Wardle claimed that fake news is, “not only self-defeating, but it also oversimplifies a very complex problem” and it devalues the expression that has “become meaningless” over the past year." (Flood, 2007) The writers claim that the term fake news is now just being abused by stating it's fake because they don't like what they read or heard. In the Fox News article the writers from CNN state that the Americans associate the "fake news" with CNN because of President Trump. The article is warning the Americans to be aware and careful with the term of fake news. CNN has decided to create an Anti-Trump liberal media since President Trump bashes the network of posting fake stories. An example in the article that states how President Trump deliberately told one of the CNN Senior White House correspondents to his that he's the fake news. President Trump has encouraged Americans to have a contest between the most famous news channels ABC, NBC, CNN, and CBS to see who publishes the most corrupt news should win an award a trophy for fake news. CNN has established a ban on the frequently used term of "fake news" but has not associated with President Trump in the ban. But everyone is curious if he will have a response to them establishing the ban on the term of "fake news."

Facebook is still battling about the fake news... possibly loosing the fight

In my earlier blogs, it has been noted that Facebook has been having trouble with fake news. Last month it was revealed that the Russians have spent about $100,000 on false advertising on social media during the 2016 election. Facebook has been trying to put guidelines on advertising. But according to The Guardian has failed in trying to stop fake news. It states in the article that Facebook has become more of a PR campaign. The CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg tried to stop the fake news by partnering up with a partner with Poynter's International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) to have an eye on their advertising to see if they were real or not. Facebook has been posting warning banners about the fake news but no actual evidence of them. In the article the author states, ""Fact checkers said they had queries about how often the tags were placed on articles, what effect they had on the content and what sites were most often targeted -- but said that Facebook had not provided information," reports The Guardian. (Krishna, 2017) Reports recently are stating that Facebook has been trying to get out of false news advertising and posting, but it seems as if the company is losing the battle.

Fake news is a big issue for Wall Street

A post from Dow Jones Newswire posted a story stating that Google was going to buy Apple for 9 billion dollars. If this story were true, it would have been an utterly explosive story. The reasoning it would have been a thoroughly crazy story is because Apple is worth 800 billion dollars. In the article, it states, “Google Chief Executive Larry Page had secret talks with the now-deceased Steve Jobs in 2010 to firm up the deal.” (Merle, Washington Post) Dow Jones had stated that he accidentally posted the story and deleted it after just a few seconds for a technology test. The reason why this isn't good for Wall Street is that Apple stock jumped from $158 to $155 in the span of few second from the fake news article. The reason it's so crucial is that fast trader by bots updates the stocks and any news within microseconds. Now that technology has come more into power it's technology doing all the work and updating the stocks. The reason the bots isn't that reliable because a fake tweet happened twice the first fake tweet was about the White House sending markets on a roller coaster ride. The second fake tweet was from the White House tweeted again that Gary Gohn was resigning sent stocks falling down. In the article important quote states, "This is why the machines, no matter how smart, are never going to be as sophisticated as a human,” said Tom Lin, a law professor at Temple University, who has studied the impact of technology on financial markets. “The bots cannot discern humor or nuance. They have no real context. They are just going to execute it on whatever they see.” (Merle, Washington Post)

Trump wants to challenge TV network licenses over fake news

President Donald Trump wants NBC and other media outlets for a challenging license on Wednesday. A report followed after this is that Trump's own secretary had called him a "moron" after many discussions about the U.S nuclear arsenal. In the article, there's a quote from Donald Trump, "“With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!” Trump, a Republican, wrote in a post on Twitter. (Shepardson, Reuters) Trump and his supporters are tired of hearing about the "fake news" on Trump administration without any evidence backing up of the negative news. Trying to challenge the licenses of the news outlets would face a significant amount of hurdles. A Democratic Senator Ed Markey claimed that is was inappropriate of Trump to challenge NBC and other media outlets just because he didn't like what they posted about him. The "Fairness Doctrine" on the article the FCC a renewal could only be allowed if it was in the public interest. In the article, it states, "The FCC has said the First Amendment “expressly prohibits the commission from censoring broadcast matter” and that its role “in overseeing program content is insufficient.” (Shepardson, Reuters) I guess well see what happens............

Image result for stephen paddock

An article called "Fake news stories circulate after Las Vegas mass shooting" by Melissa Etehad. The deadly mass shooting has counted of 58 lives dead. Since then so many false news stories were flowing through Twitter that had hundreds of retweets. The false story on Twitter was that multiple gunmen were shooting at the concert which is not correct. A picture that was flowing around on Twitter of the wrong attacker was retweeted by hundreds of people too. The officials identified the real shooter was alone and named Stephen Paddock who was 64 years old. Another false story that was floating around Twitter was the shooter is Sam Hyde. When the shootings were head more stories were circulating that other Las Vegas hotels had shooters which is clearly false when it was one massive shooting.

Fake news trying to regain the megaphone after the mass shooting in Las Vegas

As we all have woken up today the first story on the news is about the sad Las Vegas shooting. Sadly, there have been many fake news stories about who exactly the shooter is. According to from Google and Facebook, the man was being identified who was an anti-Trump liberal who the FBI was associating him with the Islamic state. Another big mainstream from Google and Facebook was the man who did the mass shooting just recently converted to Islamic. Facebook and Google had both defended their cases how this fake news traveled from them. Google argued their case that a toxic message board called the 4Chan were researching on how to pin the shooting on the liberals. Facebook explained their case that "Alt-Right News" who made a post that claimed he was a Trump hating liberal. Both Google and Facebook had argued that the fault of this madness and fake news is algorithm errors. Facebook and Google both apologized for the confusion of the false story and stated they are trying to work to prevent from this happening in the future. According to the article, they state that this isn't a first time where Google, Facebook, 4Chan, Twitter, and Reddit has to mislead millions of people with false information. Especially when campaigns were in it was misleading millions of people with wrong information.

Children are now claiming worries about nuclear war... the fake news is ruining their mental health

children-fakenews.jpg
In this generation, we have noticed a dramatic change in the last 20 years. The news can be accessed through social media and the 24-hour channel of news. The news being accessed so easily is becoming a part of our daily life. Before people would wait for the news on the TV to come on at a particular time. The generation we are in now younger children sees and read about the story that is giving them high anxiety from unreliable sources. In the article, it stated, "It is sensationalist, exaggerated and often patently false information, circulated to increase readership and revenue." (Cox, 2017) The older generation has more knowledge and experience to distinguish what is fake news and what's real news. The younger generation isn't experienced to tell what exact source is false news. The children are also not habituated to question at home or school, so, therefore, this is what causes the main issues. The most worry for children when reading the news is the fear of terrorism. The biggest problem right now is what's going on in the news with President Trump and North Korea. The children are not getting enough critical thinking skills that are creating the issues. The children are so connected to online like social media and connecting with friends versus real life. As noted in the article children are not being taught how to discern false information. Hopefully, children will learn and understand the difference between false information and reality. At times there can be devastating news, but the children need to be taught how to cope with the actual negative news.
